Finally Spring? April 22-26

Dear Families,

Sounds like we will finally have a nice weekend.  Enjoy!!!

Highlights of the week:

We looked at 12 chicken eggs in the incubator. We have been counting down the days until they hatch. We have 13 to go!

New sight words: has and as

We finished learning about our reading strategies. Look for a reminder sheet in their book bags next week.

We started brainstorming and wondering and finding facts for our non-fiction animal reports. The kids are taking this very seriously and doing a great job. Next week we will start writing our rough drafts.

In math we are almost finished with Unit 6. We worked on measuring to the inch and cm.  We built numbers with tens sticks and ones cubes.  Finally, we wrote numbers to 120 and then learned how to write number words through 10.

In science we are learning about animals. We sorted animal picture cards by wings and no wings. Then we learned about animal body parts and filled in a sheet. We also drew our animal that we are researching and labeled its body parts.  Today we learned about animal coverings.

With the warm weather approaching next week, please make sure your child has tennis shoes for recess and gym if you send them in flip flops.

I certainly have enough responses to go ahead with the Shutterfly yearbook. I will go ahead and put it together next week and get it ordered.

Please call or e-mail if you have questions.
