What an exciting week in kindergarten! The kids and I had a wonderul time celebrating this week.
Highlights-
Teacher Appreciation- The kids loved their backstage passes and all of the decorations in the classroom. The doorway was a big hit and it actually survived the week. They were very respectful.
Mrs. Metzger's b-day party and the birth of 3 baby chicks this week! The kids loved playing lots of silly and fun games. We did the egg toss, spoon and egg relay race, egg roll with beaks (noses), chicken feed, and mother hen. My favorite was watching the kids peck at their cereal and get it in their mouths. I think the kids favorite was popping the balloons on the cement. They enjoyed the cupcakes that were brought in by Caleb's mom.
Mother's Day gifts- We worked really hard to make moms a little something to show them how much we appreciate all they do for us. Moms- I hope you enjoy Sunday and do something to pamper yourself a little.
We finished our non-fiction Animal reports and they were sent home on Wednesday. Hopefully you enjoyed reading them with your child. They spent a lot of time working on them and the writing process.
No new sight words this week.
We have a new handwriting book that we started this week. We are concentrating on using our handwriting lines and writing words.
In math we are working on partners of 10. We have been reviewing that teen numbers are 10 and 1 more, 10 and 5 more, etc. The kids also had to write numbers to 120. I am impressed with how easy this is becoming for most of them.
We made a baby chick in an egg this week. The kids each named the 3 chicks and drew pictures of what they look like. These will be in their portfolios.
We will begin zoo animals next week in preparation for our upcoming Como Zoo Field Trip.
I cannot believe there are only 18 days of school left. The kids have been a joy to teach. They are all so eager to learn and have progressed so far. I am very proud of them.
