Dear Families,

Of course the highlight of our week was our first field trip of the year!  We went to the Children's Museum on Friday.

This week was an unusual one with me being gone 3 days.  Mrs. Hallen reported that things went smoothly while I was gone.  The kids were amazing on Thursday when I came back. I guess they missed me just a little:)

Just a reminder that progress reports are available for you to view on line. If you have any questions or concerns with what you see, please give me a call.

Our sight words this week: they and with

Word family words pig, dig, fig, jig, wig, twig.

Handwriting- Letter Nn

We continued to work on wondering with a variety of books this week. Ask the kids about my favorite book called Five Minutes Peace.  They are very good at being able to ask questions about what they are reading.

In writing the kids continued to work on writing stories.  They are working on completing two stories so they can choose which one they like best to publish! This means that I will type the words they wrote and they will illustrate it.  They are very excited and work very hard during writing time. It is so fun to get to know the kids better by the stories they tell.

We worked on being able to recognize and know the value of the penny, nickel, dime, and quarter this week.  In addition we worked on teen numbers and partners of numbers 2-6.  We reviewed 3 dimensional shapes.

We discussed Ground Hogs day after our field trip today and we made a little groundhog puppet for the kids to take home. Hopefully he will decide that we will have an early Spring tomorrow. It is predicted to be a cloudy day!

Finally, we made Love Bugs to decorate our halls in the month of February!

Have a wonderful Super Bowl weekend!
